*On December 13, Dry River Radical Resource Center (740 N Main St.)
will host a Gaza Boat benefit to raise funds in support of the Free Gaza
Movement, an internationally-led effort which has been directly aiding
Palestinians in Gaza upon request, supporting Palestinian social programs and
resistance efforts on the ground, and spreading international awareness to the
brutal U.S.-Israeli occupation of the lives and lands of Palestinians of the
region and elsewhere. The latest efforts have been directed at creating a
permanent sealine, or "ferry service", in the words of one supporter, from the
island of Cyprus to the shores of Gaza, in augmentation of the first two -- and
most recently a third -- of Gaza Boats having successfully broken
(U.S.-)Israel's social, economic and military blockade and siege of the
occupied territories. The first boat sailed successfully from Cyprus to Gazan
shores on Aug. 23rd; the second on Oct. 29th; and the third most recently on
November 8th. (See links below for more info.) The effort has been to
distribute medical supplies, exchange outreach with Gazans as well as ferry
people (restricted of movement) out of Gaza in order to receive medical
treatment and fulfill other needs and wishes.
